Spicy Cashews

cashews in bowlSpice up your life a little! This recipe has the health benefits of nuts and warming spices like cayenne and cumin which improve blood circulation and reduce inflammation.  Great as a party treat or just because you’re special! Plus, they can help you live longer!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of cashews or almonds
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp raw sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cardamon
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350, toast nuts 7-8 minutes
  2. Wisk salt, sugar, spices in bowl
  3. Bring oil, vinegar, juice, and molasses to a boil in a shallow pan (about 30 seconds)
  4. Add nuts and stir to coatspicy cashews
  5. Place back on cookie sheet and toast in oven 4 minutes

Nutritional Benefits:

  • Cayenne: the hotter the pepper, the more it fights inflammation.  Cayenne is a warming spice that stimulates the circulatory system and increases circulation.  It clears congestion and can boost immunity
  • Cashews: higher in monounsaturated fats, which have been studied to have improved heart function & decrease cholesterol levels.
